Can I ride the Nozomi with the Japan Rail Pass?

To ride the Nozomi or Mizuho, buy the special NOZOMI MIZUHO Ticket for your section before boarding; otherwise ride the Hikari, Sakura, Kodama or Tsubame.

Is the Japan Rail Pass worth it for Tokyo to Kyoto and back?

A round trip on the Nozomi on the Tokaido Shinkansen costs 28,340 yen with reserved seats, 57% of the pass price (50,000 yen for 7 days, Ordinary Car, on the official website). The pass covers the Hikari, Sakura and Kodama on the same line at no extra cost; to stay on the Nozomi or Mizuho, pass holders pay 4,960 yen each way for the special ticket.
