Who runs this site
I’m Shunta Fujii. I live in Japan and run Japan Japan !!.
I have worked in web marketing for about six years, running search, advertising and social media for companies in more than 20 industries. Since 2023 I have worked on my own, helping Japanese companies put generative AI to work.
I also run 今日どこいく?, a travel site in Japanese.
Also by me今日どこいく?きょうどこいく · kyoudokoiku.comA Japanese-language travel site with databases of airlines, airports and carry-on rules for travellers in Japan.kyoudokoiku.comWhy this site exists
The rules a visitor to Japan needs are scattered. What you can carry onto a plane is set by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and by each airline. What you can bring through customs is decided by Japan Customs, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (medicines) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (meat, fruit and plants). Each airport publishes its own guide, often in Japanese first.
This site puts those rules in one place, in English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean and Japanese, and links every rule to the official page it comes from.
How the pages are made
Collect
Rules and numbers come only from government bodies, airport operators and airlines.
Draft and translate
AI tools I built myself draft the text and translate it into five languages.
Check and date
Each page names its sources and the date they were checked. No official figure, no guess.
The rules and numbers themselves always come from the sources listed on each page, not from what an AI model happens to know. The details are in the editorial policy.
Found a mistake?
Send the page address and what you noticed. When a mistake is confirmed, the page is fixed and its date is updated.
