Children aged 6 to 11 on the purchase date pay the child price; children under 6 who do not need a reserved seat need no pass.

What the pass covers

  • JR East lines in the pass area, plus all Fujikyu Railway, Izu Kyuko, Rinkai, Tokyo Monorail and Joshin Dentetsu lines, and the New Shuttle between Omiya and the Railway Museum.
  • Through limited express trains between JR and Tobu (Nikko, Kinugawa, SPACIA Kinugawa) in ordinary reserved seats, and Tobu local trains from Shimo-imaichi to Tobu-nikko and Kinugawa-onsen.
  • Example: the Joetsu Shinkansen from Tokyo to GALA Yuzawa and the Nikko express between Omiya, Tobu-nikko and Shinjuku.

Not covered

  • The Tokaido Shinkansen and JR buses.
  • The Hayabusa, the Komachi and GranClass; they need limited express or GranClass fees.
  • Reserved seats on the Fujisan Express, Fujisan View Express and Fuji Tozan Densha on Fujikyu lines cost extra.
  • Tobu limited express trains that start or end at Tobu stations.
  • Green Car and GranClass seats cost extra.

Fares are one adult, reserved seat where trains have them, from the City to City pages (searched for 14 October 2026). A round trip is twice the one-way fare. The share compares the round trip with 16,000 yen for 3 days, Ordinary Car (JR-EAST Train Reservation or stations in Japan).

  • Tokyo to Nagano by Kagayaki: The official area map shows the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Sakudaira inside the pass area; Sakudaira to Nagano is outside, so you pay the fare and limited express charge for that part.
  • Tokyo to Matsumoto by Limited Express Azusa: The official area map shows the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku to Kobuchizawa inside the pass area; Kobuchizawa to Matsumoto is outside, so you pay the fare and limited express charge for that part.
  • Tokyo to Izu by Shinkansen + Ito Line: Covers the JR Ito Line from Atami to Ito; the Tokaido Shinkansen from Tokyo to Atami needs a separate ticket.
  • Tokyo to Enoshima by JR Tokaido Line + Enoden: The official area map shows the JR line through Fujisawa, between Ofuna and Chigasaki, inside the pass area; the Enoden from Fujisawa to Enoshima is outside, so you pay that fare.

Where to buy it

  • On JR-EAST Train Reservation, and at JR EAST Travel Service Centers in the pass area and some stations.
  • If you book online, pick the pass up in Japan with your passport.
  • Pick up or buy it at a reserved seat ticket machine with a passport reader, using a passport with an IC chip.
Who can buy it
Foreign nationals with a non-Japanese passport; you do not need Temporary Visitor status for this pass.

Seats and using the pass

Seats
Get a seat ticket at a JR East reserved seat ticket machine, ticket office or Travel Center before boarding; the pass alone does not guarantee a seat.
  • Use the automatic ticket gates with the pass; on non-JR East lines, ask the staff.
  • Keep your passport with you while using the pass and show it if staff ask.
  • If you bought it on JR-EAST Train Reservation, you can cancel free of charge until 11:50 p.m. (JST) the day before the start date.

Refunds

An unused pass can be refunded within its validity at the place of purchase, minus a 10% fee; no refund once you start using it.

Good to know

  • Pass holders get 10% off the rental car fee at JR Rent-A-Car with a promo code, at select locations.
  • You can use only one of these passes at a time and cannot buy two for overlapping dates.
  • There is no youth or student price.
  • Gala Yuzawa Station is open only in winter and spring.
  • The pass cannot be reissued if it is lost or stolen.
