SENDAI AREA PASS: price, days and what it covers

Price

One day.

Children aged 6 to 11 pay the child price.

What the pass covers

• JR lines between Sendai, Matsushima, Matsushimakaigan, Yamadera and Shiroishi; the Sendai Airport Access Line; Loople Sendai, Sendai City Buses and the Sendai Subway; the Miyagi Kotsu bus to Akiu Otaki; and the Abukuma Express between Tsukinoki and Abukuma.
• JR trains: non-reserved seats in ordinary cars of local and rapid trains.

Not covered

• The Rakuten shuttle bus.

Where to buy it

• At the JR EAST Travel Service Center on the 3rd floor of JR Sendai Station, or at reserved seat ticket machines with passport readers at Sendai Station.
• Sold all year, from one month before the day of use.

Who can buy it

Anyone with a valid non-Japanese passport; you show it when you buy the pass.

Seats and using the pass

• On JR, the Sendai Subway and the Sendai Airport Access Line, put the pass through the automatic gates; on buses show it when you get off, and on the Abukuma Express show it when you get on and off.
• If unused and not expired, the date can be changed once at the JR EAST Travel Service Center.

Good to know

• A lost pass is not reissued.
• Pass holders get discounts at sights such as Zuihoden Mausoleum (adults 570 yen down to 460 yen) and Sendai City Museum (460 yen down to 360 yen).
