Tokyo Christmas Market Tickets: the short answer

Tokyo Christmas Market 2026 tickets cost 1,000 yen for adults on weekdays, 1,500 yen on weekends and holidays, and 2,000 yen on 24 and 25 December. It runs at Shin-Toyosu from 20 November and Shiba Park from 4 December, both until 25 December.

  • Two venues: Shin-Toyosu by the Yurikamome line, and Shiba Park at Onarimon, near Tokyo Tower.
  • Children: Elementary school pupils pay 500 yen, or 1,000 yen on 24 and 25 December. Children under school age go in free.
  • Re-entry: You can leave and come back. The organizer asks guests to keep visits to about 3 hours.
  • Weather: The market opens in rain and closes only for typhoons, heavy rain or heavy snow.

Adults here means junior high school students and older. The Tokyo Christmas Market FAQ and contact page sets these prices for both venues. The same page says ticket sales will be announced later, so check the venue pages before you plan a fixed date.

The market is an outdoor German-style Christmas fair with mulled wine, sweets, ornaments and a stage. Its symbol is a 14 m wooden Christmas pyramid from Seiffen in Germany. The rest of this guide covers dates, prices by day, how to reach each venue and what to pack.

Tokyo Christmas Market 2026 dates and hours

Tokyo Christmas Market 2026 is split across two sites. Shin-Toyosu opens on Friday 20 November and stays open to Friday 25 December. Shiba Park opens later, on Friday 4 December, and closes on the same day, 25 December.

On the first day at Shin-Toyosu, the gates open at 16:00 and close at 21:30. On every other day, Shin-Toyosu runs from 11:00 to 21:30. Food and drink last orders are at 21:00, and the last entry is at 20:30. The Tokyo Christmas Market 2026 Shin-Toyosu event overview lists these times. Shiba Park has its own page, the Tokyo Christmas Market 2026 Shiba Park event overview, with its hours and exits.

The table below shows which venue is open on which dates, and the adult price for each stretch.

From 20 November to 3 December, only Shin-Toyosu is open. From 4 December, you can choose either venue. On 24 and 25 December, both venues charge the same Christmas price.

If you searched for the market at Meiji Jingu Gaien, note the move. The GO TOKYO December guide still describes the market at Jingu Gaien, the avenue famous for its ginkgo trees. For 2026, the organizer lists Shin-Toyosu and Shiba Park instead.

Interest in tickets builds fast. Worldwide Google searches for “tokyo christmas market tickets” rose from 260 in October 2025 to 1,000 in November and 1,900 in December. December searches were 7.3 times the October figure. Ticket demand peaks in the same weeks the market runs, so plan your date in October or early November.

Tokyo Christmas Market tickets: prices by date

The price depends on the day you go, not on the venue. The chart below compares the five ticket prices for 2026.

At Shin-Toyosu, from 20 November to 23 December, adults pay 1,000 yen on weekdays and 1,500 yen on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays. Children of elementary school age pay 500 yen. At Shiba Park, from 4 December to 23 December, adults pay 1,000 yen on weekdays and 1,500 yen on Saturdays and Sundays. Children pay 500 yen there too.

On 24 and 25 December, both venues switch to one price. Adults pay 2,000 yen and elementary school children pay 1,000 yen. Children under school age are free on every day.

Two dates catch visitors out. Monday 23 November is Labor Thanksgiving Day, a national holiday on the Cabinet Office national holidays page. Shin-Toyosu charges the weekend price that day. December has no national holidays in 2026, so Wednesday 23 December is a normal weekday at 1,000 yen. You can check both months on our November holidays calendar and December holidays calendar.

Time slots, late arrival and re-entry

Tickets are sold in 30-minute slots. The time on your ticket is a guide. A 13:00 ticket means the organizer hopes you arrive between 13:00 and 13:30. If you miss your slot, you can still enter on the same day. Guests holding the current slot go in first.

You can leave and come back in on the same ticket. The FAQ asks guests to enjoy the market for about 3 hours. If you want to check before you step out, show staff this line: 再入場できますか? (Sainyūjō dekimasu ka?), which means “Can I re-enter?”

Buying ahead on busy days

On weekends and other busy days, the venues may limit same-day entry. The FAQ recommends buying an advance reservation ticket for those days. Advance tickets come with a market mug as a bonus. You can use that mug inside and pay only for the hot drink. Rinse it at the washing sinks in the venue, then take it to a drink stall.

Shin-Toyosu venue: getting there

Shin-Toyosu is the longer-running site, and the only one open in November. The nearest stations are Shin-Toyosu and Shijo-mae on the Yurikamome line. The venue has no car park and no bicycle parking, so come by train.

The Yurikamome is an automated elevated line that runs across the Tokyo Bay area. If you ride it more than twice in a day, compare the Yurikamome One-Day Pass with single fares. From Haneda Airport, our Haneda Airport to Odaiba guide covers the bus into the bay area, where you can change to the Yurikamome.

Shiba Park venue near Tokyo Tower

The second venue is in Shiba Park, on the open space in front of Onarimon Station. The official name is Tokyo Christmas Market 2026 in Shiba Park (Onarimon Station Square). It opens on 4 December and runs until 25 December.

From Haneda, the easy route ends at Hamamatsucho. The Tokyo Monorail runs there in 20 minutes for 520 yen, without a change. The Keikyu Line and JR take about 30 minutes for 530 yen. Our Haneda Airport to Hamamatsucho guide compares the two, and the Tokyo Monorail guide covers the 590 yen weekend ticket.

Suica and PASMO work on all of these lines. Our guide to IC cards in Tokyo lists which cards you can tap on JR, Tokyo Metro, Toei and the buses. At Shiba Park, adults pay 1,000 yen on weekdays and 1,500 yen on Saturdays and Sundays until 23 December.

Mugs, food and the 14 m Christmas pyramid

The centrepiece of both markets is a Christmas pyramid. It is 14 m tall and came from Seiffen, a German village known for Christmas ornaments. The Tokyo Christmas Market page about the Christmas market says the pyramid has a longer history than the Christmas tree.

The figure above puts the 14 m height in front of you. The market first opened in Hibiya Park in December 2015 with this pyramid as its symbol. It has moved since then, and in 2026 it fills two sites.

How the mug deposit works

Hot drinks come in a mug, glass or jug with a deposit. You pay the deposit at the food stall together with the drink. When you finish, you can keep the mug you drank from. The deposit is not refunded in that case. Drop the stall number coin into the coin collection box before you leave.

If you want a clean mug, the Information booth sells unused ones. Mugs are microwave safe, so you can use yours at home. The organizer does not cover lost, broken or stolen mugs, so keep yours with you.

Food and drink

The Tokyo Christmas Market Shin-Toyosu food news lists the first dishes for 2026. The Brucke booth fries langos and tops them with sour cream and Gouda, ham and cheese, thick bacon, or tomato and onion. Other stalls sell one-hand sweets such as a Christmas waffle bar and stick Christmas cake.

The Wish & Smile Link Café booth serves Miyazaki beef stew in a bread bowl. It also sells Santa-face churros in cinnamon or chocolate at 1,500 yen each, in limited numbers. Every stall shows its allergy information on site.

If you skip alcohol, ask for non-alcoholic mulled wine, hot tea or hot cocoa. You cannot bring your own food or drinks into the venue. The whole site is non-smoking except for a dedicated smoking area.

Paying

Every food and goods stall takes cash or cashless payment. The FAQ lists the accepted cashless terminals, so check it if you rely on one card brand. Carry some cash for the mug deposit as a backup.

Other Tokyo Christmas markets: Solamachi, Roppongi, Marunouchi

Tokyo has smaller Christmas markets inside its big shopping districts. The GO TOKYO Winter Illumination Guide lists three of them for the 2025 season. Use them as a guide to where markets appear, and check each venue for 2026 dates.

The photo shows Tokyo Skytree lit for Christmas. At TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN Dream Christmas, a Christmas market with food and drinks sits next to the Sky Arena and the Soramizaka slope. This is the market people search for as the Solamachi Christmas market. About 260 people search for it each month worldwide.

Midtown Christmas in Roppongi decorates the whole of Midtown Garden with lights and sound. A Christmas market runs inside, and a skating rink with real ice runs outside. GO TOKYO lists a Santa Tree covered in about 1,600 Santa ornaments.

In Marunouchi, Marunouchi Street Park 2025 Winter put a market and food trucks on Naka-dori. Gyoko-dori got its first Christmas tree and mountain hut-style shops with classic Christmas dishes. For markets outside Tokyo and what is open on Christmas Day, read our Christmas in Japan guide.

These markets sit inside shopping districts, so they make easy add-ons on a day you already spend in Roppongi, Marunouchi or around Skytree.

Rain, cold and planning your Christmas week

The market opens in rain. The organizer may cancel for a typhoon, heavy rain or heavy snow. Some tent seats have a roof, but there are not many. The organizer posts opening news on its Facebook, X and Instagram accounts, so check them on a stormy morning.

Children are welcome, and the FAQ asks parents to keep a close eye on them in the crowd. Dogs and other pets can come on a lead. Keep pets out of the tent in front of the stage, where performances run.

The checklist above covers the four things to sort out before you leave your hotel. The last entry time matters most if you come after dinner.

December weather in Tokyo

Evenings are cold. The Japan Meteorological Agency Tokyo climate normals give December an average of 7.7°C, with daily highs of 12.0°C and lows of 3.8°C. November averages 12.5°C, with lows of 8.8°C. December is dry, with 57.9 mm of rain in an average month.

The screenshot is the agency’s table of 1991 to 2020 normals for Tokyo. Read the December row for the market season. GO TOKYO adds that gloves, scarves and hats help from mid-December. You stand outside for hours at a market, so dress for the low, not the high. Our Japan packing list for winter covers layers and what to carry on the plane.

Picking your day

For the lowest price and smaller crowds, go on a weekday before 24 December. Weekend days cost 1,500 yen, and same-day entry may be limited. On 24 and 25 December, both venues charge 2,000 yen, and Christmas Day in Japan is a normal working day. For other December events, see our Japan in December guide.
