teamLab Planets tickets: the short answer

teamLab Planets tickets are timed-entry tickets sold online only, with no ticket sales at the museum. Over the 60 days we checked, adults paid ¥3,800 to ¥5,600 on the official store (median ¥5,200), and entries from 18:00 were cheapest.

  • Where to buy: the teamLab Planets TOKYO Official Ticket Store, run by DMM. There are no tickets on site.
  • Adult price: officially from ¥3,800; we found ¥3,800 to ¥5,600 between 7 October and 5 December 2026.
  • Cheapest: entries from 18:00 (average ¥4,826) and 1 to 5 December (from ¥3,800).
  • Changes: up to 3 times, until 2 hours before entry. No cancellations or refunds.

japan-japan.com checked every date and every entry time on the official ticket sites on 7 October 2026. This guide puts teamLab Borderless and the museums in Kyoto, Osaka and Fukuoka on the same scale, so you can compare them directly.

How teamLab ticket prices work

Both Tokyo museums use dynamic pricing for adults. The adult price changes with the date and with the entry time you choose. Tickets for ages 13 to 17, children and the all-day passes keep one fixed price.

The price printed on each official page is a starting point. The teamLab Planets TOKYO official page lists adults from ¥3,800. The teamLab Borderless official page lists adults from ¥3,400. The teamLab Borderless official FAQ says both Tokyo museums start from ¥3,600. The Borderless ticket calendar uses colour bands that run from ¥3,400–¥4,600 up to ¥4,600–¥5,800.

Our check shows what was actually on sale. Across the 60 days, the lowest adult ticket at both museums was ¥3,800. The highest was ¥5,600, and the median was ¥5,200 at both.

The day of the week barely moves the price. At Planets, adults paid an average of ¥5,171 on weekdays and ¥5,174 on weekends and public holidays. At Borderless the two averages were ¥5,128 and ¥5,136.

Three habits lower the adult price. Enter from 18:00, when the Planets average fell to ¥4,826. Pick a date from 1 to 5 December, when prices started at ¥3,800. And stop hunting for a weekday, because weekday and weekend averages were almost the same.

The table below lists every ticket type at the two Tokyo museums. Children aged 4 to 12 pay ¥1,500 at both, and children 3 and under enter free. The disability ticket covers the certificate holder and one companion. The official pages give ¥1,900 at Planets and ¥1,700 at Borderless. In our check, both museums charged ¥1,900 to ¥2,800 for it, with a median of ¥2,600.

teamLab Planets ticket prices by entry time and date

teamLab Planets tickets get cheaper as the day goes on. We read the adult price on 58 open dates, with up to 26 entry times a day, from the 8:00 slot to the 20:30 slot.

Entries before 11:00 averaged ¥5,416. Entries from 11:00 to 14:59 averaged ¥5,294, and entries from 15:00 to 17:59 averaged ¥5,112. Entries from 18:00 averaged ¥4,826, the lowest of the four bands.

Borderless, from 18:00 4783 yen

The chart compares the same four time bands at Planets and Borderless. The ranges overlap. Before 11:00, an adult ticket at Planets cost ¥4,800 to ¥5,600. From 15:00 to 17:59 it cost ¥4,200 to ¥5,400, and from 18:00 it cost ¥3,800 to ¥5,200.

By single slot, the entries from 9:00 to 11:30 were the most expensive, at an average of ¥5,421. The 19:00, 19:30 and 20:00 slots averaged ¥4,793. The last slot, 20:30, was the cheapest at ¥4,593.

The date adds a second layer. Each day has a cheapest and a dearest entry time, and that pair stepped down through the autumn.

  • 7 October to 15 November: ¥4,800 to ¥5,600.
  • 16 to 20 November: ¥4,400 to ¥5,200.
  • 21 to 30 November: ¥4,200 to ¥5,000.
  • 1 to 5 December: ¥3,800 to ¥5,000.

The cheapest dates in the period were 1, 2, 4 and 5 December. The ¥3,800 tickets only appeared in the evening band. By day of the week, the averages ran from ¥5,143 on Tuesday to ¥5,219 on Thursday. If your dates are flexible, use our Tokyo in November and Tokyo in December guides to plan the trip around a cheaper day.

Planets opens from 8:00 to 22:00 every day, and last entry is one hour before closing. On 31 December it closes at 20:00. The museum closes on Thursday 5 November and Thursday 3 December 2026, and it has no closed day in October. November has two public holidays: Culture Day on 3 November and Labor Thanksgiving Day on 23 November. Our November public holidays page lists both.

teamLab Borderless ticket prices

teamLab Borderless tickets follow almost the same scale as Planets. Over 58 open dates and up to 25 entry times a day, adults paid ¥3,800 to ¥5,600, with a median of ¥5,200.

Borderless sits on basement level 1 of Garden Plaza B in Azabudai Hills. It opened in February 2024 as a permanent museum. Our teamLab Borderless Tokyo guide covers what to expect inside.

The time bands look like Planets. Entries before 11:00 averaged ¥5,414, and entries from 11:00 to 14:59 averaged ¥5,248. Entries from 15:00 to 17:59 averaged ¥5,010, and entries from 18:00 averaged ¥4,783.

The late slots behave a little differently here. The 19:30 slot was the cheapest at ¥4,670. The 20:00 slot averaged ¥5,000 and the 20:30 slot ¥4,800, so the last entry is not always the best deal at Borderless.

The date steps matched Planets exactly, from ¥4,800–¥5,600 in October down to ¥3,800–¥5,000 in early December. The cheapest dates were 1 to 5 December. Borderless closes on Tuesday 20 October, Tuesday 24 November and Tuesday 8 December 2026. On 17 November it closes early, at 17:00. On other days it usually opens from 8:30 to 21:00, and some days run until 22:00.

Tickets go on sale around the 1st of the month, two months before your visit. The ticket site lists January 2027 tickets going on sale on 2 November at 12:00, marked as tentative. You can also buy at the museum, but an on-site ticket costs ¥200 more than the online price.

A visit takes about 2 hours, according to the Borderless FAQ. Borderless sets no limit on how long you stay once you are inside, so you do not have to leave when the next slot starts.

Sold-out entry times and same-day tickets

Single entry times do sell out, but no date sold out completely at either Tokyo museum in our check. On 7 October 2026, 166 of 1,508 Planets entry times (11%) were sold out. Another 108 had only a few tickets left, and sold-out times appeared on 29 dates.

The busiest Planets dates all fell in the first week. 12 October had 16 sold-out entry times, 10 October had 15 and 8 October had 14. 11 October had 13, 9 October had 12 and 13 October had 11. Monday 12 October 2026 is Sports Day, a public holiday, as our 2026 public holidays calendar shows.

Borderless had 81 of 1,372 entry times (6%) sold out, and 149 more were nearly gone, across 28 dates. Its busiest dates were 7 October, with 11 sold-out times, and 12 October, with 8. The Borderless Flexible Pass sold out for the whole day on 12, 18 and 21 October. The Planets Premium Pass had no sold-out dates.

Quick answers for teamLab Tokyo tickets

The illustration above gives the quick answer for four common situations. At Planets, the official store is the only way to buy on the day. The museum sells no tickets at the entrance or from machines. At Borderless, same-day tickets are sold online if they are not sold out, and on site for ¥200 more.

The time on a Planets ticket is your entry time, and you still queue after it. The teamLab Planets TOKYO Official Ticket Store help page says you may wait 30 to 60 minutes to get in. It also says the QR code appears after 0:00 on the day of your visit.

If you run late, the teamLab Planets TOKYO official FAQ says you can still enter if you arrive the same day during opening hours. Go to the museum in Toyosu and ask a staff member near the entrance. Neither Tokyo museum allows re-entry, so finish your visit before you leave.

How to buy, change and pay

Buy from each museum’s own ticket site. For Planets, that is the teamLab Planets TOKYO Official Ticket Store, run by DMM. Borderless, Kyoto and Osaka each have an official ticket site linked from their teamLab pages. Fukuoka uses the BOSS E・ZO FUKUOKA official ticket site. The steps are the same everywhere:

  1. Open the museum’s official ticket site.
  2. Pick the date, then the entry time. Evening slots cost less in Tokyo.
  3. Choose the ticket types and the number of people, then pay.
  4. Show the QR e-ticket on your phone at the entrance gate.
How to buy on the official ticket site. Open the official site. Use the museum's own ticket site. Pick date and entry time.
How to buy on the official ticket site

The illustration walks through the same four steps on a phone. The Planets store sells up to 10 tickets per order and does not carry group tickets. It does not take orders by phone either.

Payment rules differ by museum. Planets takes Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express and Diners cards, PayPay and UnionPay, with no extra fees. Borderless and Kyoto take credit cards and PayPay. Osaka’s official site needs a credit card. Fukuoka takes cards, PayPay and Alipay online, and also WeChat and cash at its ticket machines.

Change rules also differ, and they apply only to tickets bought on the official site.

Museum Change date or time Cancel or refund
Planets Up to 3 times, until 2 hours before entry No
Borderless Up to 3 times, until 2 hours before entry No
Biovortex Kyoto Up to 3 times, until 2 hours before entry No
Botanical Garden Osaka Up to 3 times, until 21:00 on the visit day Yes, until 21:00 on the visit day

For a Planets Premium Pass, the deadline is 8:30 on the day of your visit. Tickets from travel agencies or convenience stores follow the seller’s rules, so contact that seller to change them.
