What the pass covers

  • One round trip on the Odakyu Line between your departure station and Odawara (you may stop over on the way).
  • Hakone Tozan Train, Hakone Tozan Cable Car, Hakone Ropeway and Hakone Sightseeing Cruise.
  • Hakone Tozan Bus, Odakyu Highway Bus and Tokai Bus in designated areas, and the Tourist Attraction Sightseeing Bus.

Not covered

  • The Romancecar limited express needs a separate limited express ticket.
  • Scheduled sightseeing tour buses.
  • Rides outside the designated area; pay the fare for that part.

Fares are one adult, reserved seat where trains have them, from the City to City pages (searched for 14 October 2026). A round trip is twice the one-way fare. The share compares the round trip with 6,000 yen for 2 days, from Odawara, Hakone area only (ticket office in Japan).

  • Tokyo to Hakone by Romancecar: With the pass bought from Shinjuku, the Odakyu Line and Hakone Tozan Line fare to Hakone-Yumoto is covered; the Romancecar limited express ticket is extra.
  • Tokyo to Hakone by Kodama + Hakone Tozan: Covers only the Hakone Tozan Train from Odawara to Hakone-Yumoto; the Shinkansen is not covered.

  • Online on EMot Online Tickets, as a digital ticket on your smartphone.
  • At Odakyu ticket machines or an Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center, as a paper ticket.
  • From one month before the travel date; ticket machines sell only passes that start on the same day.
  • The Hakone-area version is sold for trips starting at Odawara, Hakone-Yumoto, Gotemba or Mishima.

Anyone can buy it at Odakyu stations or online.

Seats and using the pass

Seats
A Romancecar reserved-seat ticket from Shinjuku to Hakone-Yumoto costs 1,200 yen extra for adults and 600 yen for children.
  • Digital ticket: scan the QR code at the ticket gate.
  • Paper ticket: show it at gates or to staff when boarding; at some stations you put it through the automatic gate.
  • The pass is collected at the station where your trip ends.

Refunds

Before the trip starts, a pass is refunded minus a 220 yen fee. If a service is suspended by bad weather and you have not used it, that part is refunded with no fee.

Good to know

  • Showing the pass gives discounts at about 70 facilities in Hakone.
  • Digital tickets work on smartphones only; a group can buy and use up to 4 tickets on one phone.
  • Romancecar tickets bought on EMot Online Tickets cost 50 yen less.
  • Romancecar reserved seats between Odawara and Hakone-Yumoto are sold only on the platform on the day, when seats are left.
