Hayakaken card (Fukuoka subway): price, refund and use
Hayakaken is an IC card that works in the nationwide mutual-use areas and can also be used for shopping as e-money. A Hayakaken can be bought for 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, 5,000 or 10,000 yen, and the price includes a 500 yen deposit.
Where to buy Hayakaken

- A Hayakaken is sold at ticket machines with the Hayakaken mark at all subway stations, and at the Customer Service Centers (commuter pass counters) at Meinohama, Nishijin, Tenjin, Hakata, Kaizuka and Beppu.

- In the subway's table of where to buy tickets, Hayakaken is sold at station ticket machines and at the Customer Service Centers (commuter pass counters), and not at station windows or on the internet.

- Watch out
- In the nationwide mutual-use areas, a Hayakaken cannot be used for reissue registration, reissue, refund, point charge or buying a commuter pass.
- Shops
- A Hayakaken can be used as e-money for shopping, including at member shops in the nationwide mutual-use areas, but not at PiTaPa shops.
- Trains and buses
- You can pass the automatic ticket gate by touching the card without taking it out of its case. Touching two IC cards together does not read correctly.
Refunds, expiry and lost cards
- Refund
- At a subway station window or a commuter pass counter, a Hayakaken is refunded as the balance minus a 220 yen fee, plus the 500 yen deposit. The card is collected.
- Refund
- A refund of a Hayakaken, including a commuter pass on it, cannot be made in the nationwide mutual-use service areas.
- If you lose it
- A registered Hayakaken can be reissued if lost, but an unregistered one cannot. Reissue costs 520 yen plus a new 500 yen deposit, 1,020 yen in cash in total.
- Registered card
- An unregistered Hayakaken needs no personal details but cannot be reissued if lost. A registered one needs your name, gender, date of birth and phone number when you buy it.
Cards for children
- Valid until March 31 of the year the child turns 12
- A child Hayakaken needs an official ID such as a health insurance card or a passport. It is valid until March 31 of the fiscal year in which the child turns 12.
