Narita Airport to Kuala Lumpur: ZIPAIR Daily From 20 October
What is new: ZIPAIR’s Kuala Lumpur route from Narita Airport
The Narita Airport ZIPAIR Narita–Kuala Lumpur route notice gives the start date as Tuesday, 20 October 2026. Flights run every day from Terminal 1. With this route, ZIPAIR becomes the fifth airline linking Narita with Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
ZIPAIR is the low-cost airline of the Japan Airlines group. Kuala Lumpur is its newest scheduled route. It follows the Narita–Houston route, which the airline launched in March 2025. Batik Air Malaysia, a Malaysian low-cost airline in our database, also flies to Narita, so compare both before you book.
Narita Airport explains why the route makes sense now. Travel between Japan and Malaysia for tourism and business has been strong. Visitors from Malaysia to Japan hit a record high in 2025, and their growth rate ranked first among ASEAN countries.

The photo shows a ZIPAIR aircraft in the airline’s colours. Narita Airport points to two selling points for the new route: affordable fares and free, high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi.
When ZIPAIR flies between Narita and Kuala Lumpur
ZIPAIR built the timetable around two slots. Flights leave Narita in the evening, and flights leave Kuala Lumpur late at night. Narita Airport says this suits visitors to Japan. It also gives people leaving Japan more time on the ground in Malaysia.
The table below sums up what the airport has published about the route.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| First flight | Tuesday, 20 October 2026 |
| How often | Every day |
| Narita terminal | Terminal 1 |
| Nearest station | Narita Airport Station (Terminal 1) |
| Leaves Narita | Evening |
| Leaves Kuala Lumpur | Late night |
| On board | Free, high-speed Wi-Fi |
A late-night departure from Kuala Lumpur means you sleep on the plane and reach Tokyo the next day. Plan your first day around that. Your hotel room may not be ready when you land, so decide what to do with your bags before you leave home.
Narita has coin lockers from 400 yen a day. JAL ABC, Sagawa Express and Yamato Transport also take bags at counters on Terminal 1’s 1F and 4F. They send the bags on to your hotel, and you head into the city with only a day pack.
ZIPAIR sells two cabins on the route: Standard, and ZIP Full-Flat with lie-flat seats. The fare pays for your seat and a cabin bag. Checked bags are an add-on, and they change the real price of the trip.
Who this flight suits (and who should look elsewhere)
The route suits travellers who pack light. ZIPAIR allows 7kg in the cabin, as one bag plus one personal item, as our ZIPAIR carry-on size and weight page shows. If your trip fits in that, you pay for the seat and little else.
Malaysian passport holders gain the most. Malaysia is on Japan’s visa-exempt list, so a short tourist trip needs no visa. Japan lists 74 visa-exempt countries and regions, and most visa-free stays run up to 90 days. Our Japan visa page for Malaysia has the rules for Malaysian passports.
Travellers from other countries who connect in Kuala Lumpur should check their own passport first. Japan’s foreign ministry states that visas cannot be issued on arrival in Japan. If you need one, apply before you fly.
Look elsewhere if you travel with several large suitcases. Each checked bag on ZIPAIR costs 4,000–11,000 yen one way, according to our ZIPAIR baggage fees page. Two bags each way on a return trip add up fast.
Batik Air Malaysia works differently. Its Economy Flexi fare includes 25kg of checked baggage and Economy Value includes 20kg, per our Batik Air Malaysia baggage allowance page. Its cheapest Super Saver fare has no bag. Add up fare plus bags on both airlines, then pick.
What to do before you fly ZIPAIR
Four steps head off most problems at the airport. The cards below put them in order.

- Add checked bags online, early. ZIPAIR’s checked bags cost 4,000–11,000 yen each. On every airline in our fee database that publishes both prices, the airport counter costs more than buying online in advance.
- Weigh your cabin bag. The limit is 7kg. The ZIPAIR baggage rules page also explains which items are restricted in the cabin.
- Be at check-in 60 minutes before departure. That is ZIPAIR’s deadline, per our ZIPAIR check-in deadline page. Of 82 airlines in our data that give a number, 50 close at the same point.
- Go to Terminal 1. ZIPAIR checks in at Narita’s Terminal 1, in the North Wing. Our Narita Airport Terminal 1 guide shows the station, lounges and showers.
Pack power banks in your cabin bag. Since 24 April 2026, Japan allows 2 power banks per person, each 160Wh or less. They can never go in checked baggage.

The photo shows Narita’s Terminal 1, where the Kuala Lumpur flights check in. Flights at Narita only operate from 06:00 to midnight. Terminal 1’s 2F to 5F are open from 05:00 to midnight, while the 1F lobby and B1F stay open all night.
Landing at Narita Airport Terminal 1: getting into Tokyo
Narita Airport Station sits under Terminal 1 on B1F. The airport puts it at a 5-minute walk from the terminal. The Narita Airport access by train page lists three ways in by rail: the Narita Sky Access line, the Keisei line and the JR line.
Which train you take depends on where you are staying. The map shows the main stops from Terminal 1 and what each one costs.

- Ueno and Nippori: The Keisei Skyliner costs 2,580 yen and takes 36 minutes at the quickest. It is the fastest train into Tokyo. Times are on our Narita Airport to Ueno and Nippori page.
- Tokyo Station: The Narita Express takes 53 minutes and costs 3,140 yen, with no change. See our Narita Airport to Tokyo Station page.
- Shinjuku, Shibuya and Shinagawa: The Narita Express runs through for 3,330 yen. Our Narita Airport to Shinjuku page also covers the bus.
- On a budget: AIRPORT BUS TYO-NRT reaches Tokyo Station in about 65 minutes for 1,500 yen. The Airport Limousine bus to Tokyo City Air Terminal (T-CAT) in Nihombashi takes 55–80 minutes for 3,100 yen.
The chart puts the fares side by side. The bus to Tokyo Station is the cheapest option here, and the Skyliner is the cheapest train.

| Item | Value | Note |
|---|---|---|
| AIRPORT BUS TYO-NRT to Tokyo Station | 1500 yen | About 65 min |
| Keisei Skyliner to Ueno | 2580 yen | 36 min at quickest |
| Limousine bus to T-CAT | 3100 yen | 55–80 min |
| Narita Express to Tokyo Station | 3140 yen | 53 min |
| Narita Express to Shinjuku | 3330 yen |
A few things help after a night on the plane. The SKYLINER & KEISEI INFORMATION CENTER at Terminal 1 Station sells TOURIST PASMO for 2,000 yen and opens from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Our page on where to buy Suica and PASMO at Narita Airport lists the other counters.
For cash, Terminal 1 has 14 ATMs from 7 banks, including Seven Bank. The shower room costs 1,500 yen, and the LAWSON on B1F is open 24 hours. A taxi into central Tokyo costs 23,500–38,500 yen, so most travellers take the train or bus. Our Narita Airport to Tokyo guide compares every way in.
