Otemachi Station on the Toei Mita Line connects to the building directly.
The shop opens 11:00 to 21:00, and 11:00 to 20:00 on Sundays and holidays. It opens every day except 1 January. Takeaway tea stops earlier: last order is 19:00, or 18:00 on Sundays and holidays. Their official pages do not list hours, so our list has only the names of these two shops.

Aoyama, Omotesando and Harajuku
This area has 4 of the 15: two tea house shops and two cafes. Ippodo Aoyama opened on 29 August 2025 on the 2nd floor of a building on the road toward the Nezu Museum.

Are matcha prices in Tokyo different from Kyoto?
We can compare only the brands’ online prices. The 7 brands with a shop in Tokyo list 62 matcha on their official online shops, at a median of 126.8 yen per gram. The 6 brands with a shop in Kyoto city list 51 matcha, at a median of 118.8 yen per gram.
Four brands have shops in both cities: Gion Tsujiri, Ippodo, Nakamura Tokichi and Nanaya. These figures come from the brands’ online prices. We did not compare shop-counter prices, so check the price tag in the shop.
The median price per gram changes a lot from brand to brand. The table below lists the 7 brands with a Tokyo shop, using the figures in our database.
| Brand | Median per gram | Lowest price in our list |
|---|---|---|
| Nanaya | 65 yen | 540 yen |
| Gion Tsujiri | 100.5 yen | 1,296 yen for 40 g |
| Morihan | 111.6 yen | 864 yen for 20 g |
| Ippodo | 124.2 yen | 864 yen for 20 g |
| Nakamura Tokichi | 185.3 yen | 1,980 yen for 30 g |
| Jugetsudo | 195 yen | 1,060 yen for 40 g |
| THE MATCHA TOKYO | 200 yen | 3,200 yen for 20 g |
Six of the 7 brands show prices with tax, in different ways. THE MATCHA TOKYO does not say whether its prices include tax, so we show its prices as listed. At Ippodo Shin-Marunouchi, takeaway prices include tax, and the page notes 10% tax if you drink in.
Prices also moved this autumn. Ippodo set new matcha prices from 1 October 2026, keeping the 20 g size the same. Nakamura Tokichi raised some prices for orders from 1 September 2026. Our matcha price comparison covers 124 matcha at 15 brands, with a 20 g tin from 864 to 21,600 yen.
Buying online works differently from buying in the shop. Since a notice of 1 August 2025, Ippodo limits how much matcha it sells to each customer, without giving a number. Ippodo has a Global Online Shop that ships overseas. Jugetsudo ships overseas only to registered customers. The matcha shops database lists each brand’s order limits.
Before you use tax-free shopping, read our tax-free shopping guide. Japan’s tax-free refund rules change from 1 November 2026, and the guide sets out the new steps.
