Cup Noodles at 7-Eleven in Japan: the short answer

The Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto cup costs 240 yen before tax (259.20 yen with tax) on Seven-Eleven Japan’s product pages, checked 17 October 2026. We count 10 cup noodles from 7-Eleven’s own brand, sold at three prices: 158, 240 and 328 yen.

  • 158 yen: 4 Seven Premium cups, 170.64 yen with 8% tax.
  • 240 yen: the Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto cup, 259.20 yen with 8% tax.
  • 328 yen: 5 Seven Premium Gold ramen-shop cups, 354.24 yen with 8% tax.
  • Where sold: 9 of the 10 cups are listed for all of Japan.

Every price here comes from the official page for each cup. The with-tax figure uses the 8% rate that applies when you take food out of the store. If you eat at the counter inside, the rate changes, and we cover that in the next section.

The card below puts the Nakamoto price next to the other nine cups, so you can see where it sits.

The 10 cups fall into three groups, and the label tells you which group you are holding. Cups marked 7プレミアム (Seven Premium) are the cheapest. Cups marked 7PG (Seven Premium Gold) carry the name of a ramen shop and cost the most. The Nakamoto cup is marked 7P, a short form of Seven Premium, but it has its own price between the two groups.

All 10 product pages list egg, milk and wheat. Three of the 158-yen cups also list a shellfish: shrimp for the soy sauce cup, and crab for the seafood and clam broth cups.

To put the prices in context, our database tracks 119 7-Eleven foods with an official price. The median is 204 yen before tax (220.32 yen with tax). The 158-yen cups come in below that median. The 240-yen Nakamoto cup and the 328-yen Gold cups come in above it.

7-Eleven’s own cups share the instant noodle shelf with other brands, so look for the 7-Eleven mark and the Japanese names in the table below.

7-Eleven Japan cup noodle prices before tax — 10 own-brand cups at three prices: 158 yen (4 cups), 240 yen (1 cup) and 328 yen (5 cups).

The prices come in three steps. 4 cups cost 158 yen, 1 cup costs 240 yen and 5 cups cost 328 yen. Nothing on the list sits between those steps, so you can tell the group from the price alone.

At the register you pay the price with tax. For take-out, a 158-yen cup comes to 170.64 yen and the Nakamoto cup to 259.20 yen. A Gold cup comes to 354.24 yen.

Some stores have an eat-in area. The 7-Eleven Japan English FAQ says reduced-tax items eaten there are taxed at 10% instead of 8%.

Seven-Eleven Japan says products, sizes, prices and release dates can differ by area, and a store may not stock every cup, even inside its sales area.

The Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto Cup

The full name on the label is 7P 蒙古タンメン中本辛旨味噌, which reads as Seven Premium Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto spicy umami miso. Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto is a ramen shop, and this cup carries its name. It is the only 7-Eleven cup on our list at 240 yen. For the shop itself, see our Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto page in the ramen chains database.

The Seven-Eleven Japan Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto cup noodle product page lists these facts, checked on 17 October 2026.

  • Price: 240 yen before tax, 259.20 yen with 8% tax.
  • Sales area: all of Japan.
  • Allergens listed (of the 8): egg, milk, wheat.
  • Nutrition: 542 kcal, protein 12.6 g, fat 23.0 g, carbohydrate 73.4 g, salt equivalent 6.2 g.

Our photo below shows the lid of the Nakamoto cup we bought.

The lid of a 7-Eleven Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto cup noodle, marked 5 minutes and 400 ml of boiling water.

We photographed a Nakamoto cup, a red cup, in Tokyo before 17 October 2026. Its lid gives two instructions in Japanese. 熱湯5分 (nettō go-fun) means “boiling water, 5 minutes”. お湯の目安量400ml (oyu no meyasu-ryō) means “about 400 ml of hot water”. That is what our cup said; other cups print their own times and amounts, so read the lid of the cup you buy.

Of the 10 cups, the Nakamoto cup has the third-highest calorie count, after two Gold cups. Its salt equivalent of 6.2 g is lower than any of the five Gold cups. Its protein, 12.6 g, is also lower than on any Gold cup, while its carbohydrate, 73.4 g, is close to theirs.

The sales area is all of Japan, so you can look for it outside Tokyo too. The product page still says a store may not carry it.

Ramen-Shop Cups: Seven Premium Gold

The five cups marked 7PG each carry the name of a ramen shop. All five cost 328 yen before tax, or 354.24 yen with 8% tax. That makes them the most expensive cup noodles on our 7-Eleven list.

  • Chuka Soba Tomita rich tonkotsu (中華蕎麦とみ田 濃厚豚骨らぁめん): 562 kcal.
  • Sumire Sapporo rich miso (すみれ 札幌濃厚みそ): 579 kcal.
  • Ippudo Akamaru Hakata tonkotsu (一風堂 赤丸新味 博多とんこつ): 493 kcal.
  • Santouka Asahikawa tonkotsu salt (山頭火 旭川とんこつ塩): 513 kcal.
  • Iida Shoten wonton soy sauce (飯田商店わんたん入りしょうゆらぁ麺): 509 kcal.

Four of the five are listed for all of Japan. The Chuka Soba Tomita cup is the exception. Its page lists Kanto, Koshinetsu, Hokuriku, Tokai and Okinawa, so you may not find it in Kansai, Hokkaido or Kyushu stores. It is the only cup of the 10 that is not listed for every area.

All five Gold pages list egg, milk and wheat, and none list shrimp or crab.

Protein on the five Gold pages runs from 14.4 g (Chuka Soba Tomita) to 16.6 g (Iida Shoten). Fat runs from 16.6 g (Iida Shoten) to 25.8 g (Sumire), with Chuka Soba Tomita close behind at 25.5 g.

The lookup card below sorts the cups by soup, so you can pick by flavour instead of by shop name.

Three of the names point to a city with its own ramen style. Sumire’s cup says Sapporo, and Sapporo ramen is known for miso. Ippudo’s cup says Hakata, and Hakata ramen is known for milky pork-bone (tonkotsu) soup. Santouka’s cup says Asahikawa, but our Asahikawa ramen page files the city under soy sauce ramen. The Santouka cup’s tonkotsu salt soup differs from that usual style.

If you want to try the bowls these cups copy, our regional ramen database lists 40 local styles across Japan. Our article on the types of ramen in Japan explains the difference between shoyu, miso, shio and tonkotsu.

A cup costs less than a shop bowl. Our regional ramen database cites government retail price statistics for August 2026 that put a bowl of ramen at 465 to 993 yen across 81 cities. The median was 747 yen, and Tokyo’s 23 wards came in at 620 yen.

The Gold cups also carry the most salt of the 10. Their salt equivalent runs from 7 g (Santouka) to 9.3 g (Chuka Soba Tomita). Ippudo lists 8 g, Iida Shoten 7.6 g and Sumire 8.1 g.

158-Yen Seven Premium Cups

The four cheapest cups are marked 7プレミアム. Each costs 158 yen before tax, or 170.64 yen with 8% tax, and all four are listed for all of Japan.

  • Soy sauce cup noodle (醤油ヌードル): 359 kcal.
  • Seafood cup noodle (シーフードヌードル): 328 kcal.
  • Clam broth salt ramen with wakame (わかめたくさん あさりだし塩ラーメン): 278 kcal.
  • Tantanmen (担々麺): 382 kcal.

The Seven-Eleven Japan Seven Premium soy sauce cup noodle product page lists egg, milk, wheat and shrimp as allergens, with 359 kcal and a salt equivalent of 4.4 g.

The salt equivalent on the four 158-yen pages is 4.4 g for the soy sauce cup, 4.4 g for the seafood cup, 4.7 g for the tantanmen cup and 5.2 g for the clam broth cup. Protein runs from 5.8 g (clam broth) to 11.5 g (tantanmen).

The other three cheap cups differ in allergens. The seafood cup and the clam broth cup both list egg, milk, wheat and crab. The tantanmen cup lists egg, milk and wheat. If you avoid shellfish, the soy sauce, seafood and clam broth cups are the three on our list that name shrimp or crab.

The chart below shows the calories in all 10 cups. The four 158-yen cups take the bottom four places, and the clam broth cup is the lightest at 278 kcal.

Tantanmen 382 kcal 158 yen
Soy sauce 359 kcal 158 yen
Seafood 328 kcal 158 yen

The Sumire cup has the most calories at 579 kcal. Salt follows the same pattern: the cheap cups list 4.4 g to 5.2 g, while the Gold cups list 7 g or more.

A 158-yen cup sits near the bottom of 7-Eleven food prices. Medians by section in our database range from 153 yen to 550 yen. For more ideas on what to eat from the shelves, see our guide to Japanese convenience store food.

Pork, Allergens and Calories

Three of the 10 cups have tonkotsu (pork-bone broth) in the Japanese name: Chuka Soba Tomita, Ippudo and Santouka. For the other seven, the product pages do not say whether they contain pork or other meat.

7-Eleven shows a wider allergen list, one that includes pork, beef, chicken and gelatin, only on its pages for the hot counter, oden, steamed buns and Seven Cafe. Packaged foods such as cup noodles stay with the shorter list.

The reason is the allergen list. Japan requires labels to show 8 allergens, and the cup noodle pages show only those 8. Pork is not one of them. So an allergen list without pork does not tell you a cup is free of pork.

The table below lists what each page shows for the 8 allergens, the calories and the sales area.

Cup noodle Allergens listed (of the 8) kcal per cup Where sold
Chuka Soba Tomita egg, milk, wheat 562 Kanto, Koshinetsu, Hokuriku, Tokai, Okinawa
Sumire Sapporo miso egg, milk, wheat 579 All of Japan
Ippudo Hakata egg, milk, wheat 493 All of Japan
Santouka Asahikawa egg, milk, wheat 513 All of Japan
Iida Shoten wonton egg, milk, wheat 509 All of Japan
Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto egg, milk, wheat 542 All of Japan
Soy sauce egg, milk, wheat, shrimp 359 All of Japan
Seafood egg, milk, wheat, crab 328 All of Japan
Clam broth salt egg, milk, wheat, crab 278 All of Japan
Tantanmen egg, milk, wheat 382 All of Japan
Allergens and where each cup is sold — The pages list only the 8 required allergens; pork is not one of them.

The hot counter works differently. The allergen pages for the hot counter, oden, steamed buns and Seven Cafe cover 108 items. Of those, 22 list pork, 14 list beef and 6 list gelatin. Our guide to 7-Eleven hot snacks shows those labels item by item. The cup noodle pages do not carry that detail.

An allergen list is not a halal or vegan check. It does not cover alcohol, other animal ingredients or how the food is made. Fish and meat are not among the 8 either, so a cup with no listed allergens could still contain them.

The checklist below shows what to do before you buy if you avoid pork or meat.

Avoiding pork? Check before you buy. Before you pick a cup. Cup pages list only 8 allergens. Pork is not among the 8.

The most reliable step is to read the full ingredient list on the side of the cup. Look for the heading 原材料名 (genzairyōmei), which means “ingredients”. If you cannot read Japanese, show the cup to the staff and ask. Our vegetarian, vegan and halal food guide covers how to ask about ingredients in Japan.

Calories on the official pages run from 278 to 579 kcal per cup. The Gold cups and the Nakamoto cup sit between 493 and 579 kcal. The four 158-yen cups sit between 278 and 382 kcal.
