Narita Airport winter schedule: the short answer

The Narita Airport winter schedule runs 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027, with a record 4,945 weekly takeoffs and landings and 4 new airlines. Philippines AirAsia has left Narita, so its passengers need another airline.

  • What: Parata Air, Thai Vietjet Air, Air Niugini and Biman Bangladesh Airlines join Narita, which now has 99 airlines.
  • When: The winter schedule starts on 25 October 2026 and ends on 27 March 2027.
  • Who: Travellers from Taichung, Delhi, Dhaka and Port Moresby, plus anyone flying Narita to Hakodate.
  • What to do: Check that your flight still runs and which terminal it uses.

Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA) published the figures on 22 October 2026 in its Narita International Airport Corporation winter 2026 schedule summary. NAA says 4,945 weekly movements is the highest since the airport opened. That is 104% of the same period a year earlier.

International movements reached 4,051 a week. NAA says this passes 4,000 for the first time. The 99 airlines are also the most Narita has had in any winter schedule, 2 more than a year earlier.

Which new airlines and routes start at Narita this winter?

Four airlines join Narita compared with the same season a year earlier. They are Parata Air, Thai Vietjet Air, Air Niugini and Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

NAA lists 7 new cities. Five of them carry passengers: Taichung, Delhi, Port Moresby, Dhaka and Hakodate. New York and Jinan are cargo-only additions, so you cannot book a seat to them from Narita.

Narita now links to 102 cities abroad and 19 in Japan, 121 in total. That is 1 city fewer than a year earlier, because 8 cities dropped off. Seven of the 8 are in China.

Some of the new airlines started during the summer. The Narita Airport summer 2026 scheduled airlines list shows Air Niugini starting Port Moresby flights from 18 July. The same list places Parata Air and Thai Vietjet Air in Terminal 2.

On the domestic side, Spring Japan opened a route from Narita to Hakodate in southern Hokkaido. The map below traces that new route north from Narita.

The new route did not lift the domestic total. NAA says domestic movements fell to 894 a week, 98% of a year earlier, because other routes cut flights. Spring Japan checks in at Narita Terminal 3, the low-cost terminal.

Which flights are leaving Narita, and how many China flights are left?

Two airlines left Narita this winter: MSC Air Cargo and Philippines AirAsia. Only Philippines AirAsia carried passengers. In the summer 2026 list it ran 14 weekly movements from Terminal 3.

If you planned a winter trip on Philippines AirAsia to Narita, contact the airline about your booking. Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific both appear on the summer 2026 list, in Terminal 2.

China routes kept shrinking. NAA counts 359 weekly passenger movements on China routes, 66% of a year earlier. The summer 2026 list had 368, so the fall carried on into winter.

Zhengzhou, Changsha, Kunming, Nanjing, Wuhan, Xi’an and Yantai all dropped off Narita’s city list. Oakland in the United States, a cargo city, went too.

Other regions grew. NAA says routes to Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the rest of Asia, the Middle East and Europe did well. Cargo flights hit a record 669 a week, 107% of a year earlier.

The chart below compares these weekly totals side by side.

When the Narita Airport winter schedule starts and ends

NAA published the summary on 22 October 2026. The winter schedule begins three days later, on 25 October 2026. It runs until 27 March 2027, and the summer schedule follows straight after.

The timeline shows the four dates that matter, including the two weeks NAA used for its count.

Who this affects (and who it does not)

These travellers should look at this winter’s changes first:

  • People in Taichung, Delhi or Dhaka who want a new route to Narita.
  • Travellers from Papua New Guinea, where Air Niugini flies from Port Moresby.
  • Korean travellers, because Parata Air is a South Korean airline.
  • Philippines AirAsia passengers, who now need another airline.
  • Anyone heading to Hokkaido who wants to fly Narita to Hakodate.

The release covers Narita only. Haneda Airport, Tokyo’s other airport, has its own schedule. If you hold a ticket on an airline that stays at Narita, NAA’s release does not change your trip.

New airlines at Narita: bags, carry-on and check-in from our database

Our airline database reads each airline’s own baggage and check-in pages. Here is what it shows for the newcomers and for Spring Japan.

Air Niugini is a full-service airline. It allows 7 kg in the cabin and 30 kg of checked baggage in Economy. Power banks over 100Wh may need prior approval.

Parata Air allows a carry-on of 115 cm in total and 10 kg. Our Parata Air carry-on size page shows the full wording.

Check-in deadlines vary widely. Of 82 airlines in our database that give a number, 50 close check-in 60 minutes before departure. Another 20 close 35 to 45 minutes before. Before a Hakodate flight, look up the Spring Japan check-in deadline for Narita.

What to do before you fly into Narita this winter

Start with the airline itself. Check that your flight number still appears in the winter schedule and note the terminal on your booking.

On a low-cost airline, weigh your cabin bag at home. Of 26 low-cost airlines flying to Japan in our database, 16 allow 7 kg and 9 allow 10 kg.

Then plan the ride into Tokyo. Our Narita Airport guide lists the options. The Narita Express reaches Tokyo Station in 53 minutes for 3,140 yen. Visitors can buy a round trip for 5,200 yen.

The cheapest way to Tokyo Station from Narita is AIRPORT BUS TYO-NRT, at 1,500 yen and about 65 minutes. The Narita Express to Shinjuku costs 3,330 yen. Keisei trains reach Nippori in 36 minutes for 2,580 yen.
