Plum blossom

The JMA's sample plum tree in Ishigaki opens around 11 January in an average year (1991–2020). In 2026: 26 January.

Cherry blossom

In Okinawa the JMA watches a Taiwan cherry (hikanzakura). The sample tree in Naha opens around 18 January and is in full bloom around 10 February in an average year (1991–2020). In 2026 it opened on 4 February and was in full bloom on 18 February.
