Famichiki price in Japan: the short answer

Famichiki costs 230 yen before tax (248 yen with 8% tax) on FamilyMart Japan’s official list, checked 21 and 24 October 2026. A Tokyo store label we photographed on 20 October showed the same price; the median hot snack costs 198 yen with tax.

  • Famichiki: 230 yen before tax, 248 yen with 8% tax.
  • Red and Pizza Flavor: 239 yen before tax, 258 yen with tax each.
  • Famichiki Buns: 88 yen before tax, 95 yen with tax, not on the Okinawa list.
  • How to buy: order it from the staff at the register.

The FamilyMart Famichiki product page calls this the regular FamilyMart price. It shows the 8% reduced tax rate, the rate for food you take away. The same page adds a short warning: prices, release dates and specifications can differ by region, and some stores do not carry the item. Treat the 248 yen figure as the standard price, not a promise for every shop in the country.

Our own check backs up the list. We photographed the hot snack case at a FamilyMart in Tokyo on 20 October 2026. The Famichiki label in the hot snack case read 230 yen before tax and 248 yen with tax. That label also carried an English name.

Famichiki is FamilyMart’s boneless fried chicken, sold from the hot snack case. FamilyMart lists it in all nine of its regions, from Hokkaido to Okinawa.

This guide covers only FamilyMart stores in Japan. Every price below comes from FamilyMart’s Japanese product pages or from our own count of those pages. All prices are in Japanese yen. ATMs, payments and the rest of the FamilyMart food list are gathered in our FamilyMart Japan guide.

Famichiki flavors and prices

FamilyMart sells three hot snacks with the Famichiki name, out of 18 items on its hot snack list. They are plain Famichiki, Famichiki Red and Famichiki Pizza Flavor. A fourth item, the Famichiki Buns with Tartar Sauce, sits on the bread shelf and is made to hold the chicken.

Item Before tax With 8% tax Where it is listed
Famichiki 230 yen 248 yen All nine regions, incl. Okinawa
Famichiki Red 239 yen 258 yen All nine regions, incl. Okinawa

Famichiki Buns with Tartar Sauce 88 yen 95 yen All regions except Okinawa

The table sets out each price before and after tax, with the regions where FamilyMart lists it. The FamilyMart hot snacks and side dishes list prices Famichiki Red and Famichiki Pizza Flavor the same. Each costs 239 yen before tax and 258 yen with 8% tax. Both cost 10 yen more with tax than plain Famichiki, 258 yen against 248 yen (our count from the official list).

All three chicken items are listed for all nine FamilyMart regions, including Okinawa. The buns are the exception. The FamilyMart Famichiki Buns with Tartar Sauce page puts them at 88 yen before tax and 95 yen with tax. FamilyMart’s bread list shows the buns in every region except Okinawa, and some stores do not stock them at all.

On FamilyMart’s Japanese list the three chicken items are ファミチキ (Famichiki), ファミチキ(レッド) (Famichiki Red) and ファミチキ(ピッツァ味) (Famichiki Pizza Flavor). The buns are ファミチキバンズ(タルタルソース). Those are the names printed in Japanese on the labels and on FamilyMart’s own pages.

Famichiki Red is the red chili version of the plain piece. In our photo of the hot snack case from 20 October 2026, its label also carried an English description. Famichiki Pizza Flavor is the only one of the three with an extra allergen, covered in the next section.

What is in Famichiki: calories, allergens and where the chicken comes from

One piece of plain Famichiki has 251.7 kcal. That figure comes from the FamilyMart Famichiki product page, checked on 24 October 2026. It also lists protein 12.7 g, fat 15.7 g, carbohydrate 14.8 g and salt equivalent 1.3 g per piece.

Item Value
Fat 15.7 g
Carbohydrate 14.8 g
Protein 12.7 g
Salt equivalent 1.3 g

The chicken comes from Thailand. FamilyMart lists Thailand as the origin of the main ingredient. It also names Thailand as the place of final processing.

FamilyMart’s allergen table for hot snacks was checked on 21 October 2026. It lists these for plain Famichiki:

  • Among the 8 required allergens: wheat, egg, milk.
  • Among the other 20 allergens: soybean, chicken.

FamilyMart’s table splits allergens into the 8 required ones and 20 others, and it reports both. FamilyMart asks shoppers to check the product label and the store’s sign as well, because recipes can change. If you have an allergy, read the label in the case on the day you buy.

The flavored versions are close. Famichiki Red has 253.4 kcal per piece, with protein 14.9 g, fat 14.7 g, carbohydrate 15.5 g and salt equivalent 1.8 g. Its allergens match plain Famichiki: wheat, egg and milk, plus soybean and chicken.

Famichiki Pizza Flavor has 243.5 kcal per piece, with protein 15.3 g, fat 13 g, carbohydrate 16.3 g and salt equivalent 1.4 g. It lists wheat, egg and milk among the required allergens. Among the other 20 it lists orange, soybean and chicken, so orange is the one addition.

How to order Famichiki at FamilyMart

You buy Famichiki at the register, not from a shelf. The FamilyMart Welcome to Japan visitor page puts Fami-Chiki (Boneless Fried Chicken) first on its list of items for visitors. It tells visitors to place the order with the staff at the cash register.

How to buy Famichiki in four steps. Find the label in the case. The label shows the English name.
How to buy Famichiki in four steps

Find the label in the hot snack case, then tell the staff the name at the register and pay there. The tax rate depends on whether you take it away or eat in the store.

The labels make the first step easy. The Famichiki label we photographed at a FamilyMart in Tokyo on 20 October 2026 gave the English name “Fami-Chiki (Boneless Fried Chicken)” next to the Japanese. In the same case we matched 11 of the 18 items on FamilyMart’s hot snack list to a label. All 11 of those labels had English on them, and the 10 prices we could read all matched the official list.

Other labels in that case had English names too, such as Spicy Fried Chicken, Crispy Chicken (Plain), Jumbo Frank Sausage, Chicken Meatball Skewer, Hash Browns and Beef Croquette for Famikoro.

If you prefer to say the name, use the Japanese one.

English Japanese on the label Say it
Famichiki ファミチキ Famichiki (fah-mee-chee-kee)

The word aji (味) on the third label means flavor. Reddo is simply the English word “red” said the Japanese way.

FamilyMart’s visitor page also notes that some items may not be sold in some regions or stores.

Make a Famichiki burger with the Famichiki Buns

The Famichiki Buns with Tartar Sauce are a soft bun with tartar sauce inside. FamilyMart sells them on its bread list. It describes them as a bun for holding Famichiki, or another fried item or side dish, to eat as a burger.

The price is 88 yen before tax and 95 yen with tax, checked on 21 and 24 October 2026. FamilyMart’s bread list shows the buns in every region except Okinawa. Some stores in the other regions do not carry them either.

Here is how the total works out. Famichiki costs 248 yen with tax and the buns cost 95 yen with tax. Together that makes 343 yen with tax for a home-made Famichiki burger. That 343 yen figure is our sum of the two official prices, not a set price from FamilyMart.

Buy the buns and a Famichiki, then put the chicken between the halves. The tartar sauce is already in the bun.

You can use Famichiki Red or Famichiki Pizza Flavor in the bun as well. With either flavor, the same sum gives 258 yen plus 95 yen, a little more than the plain version.

Famichiki among FamilyMart’s hot snacks

FamilyMart Japan’s official hot snack list, checked on 21 October 2026, has 18 items. The median price is 198 yen with 8% tax (our count). Famichiki, at 248 yen with tax, sits above that middle point.

Crispy Chicken 198 yen
Famikara (1 piece) 108 yen

Only 3 of the 18 hot snacks cost more than Famichiki. Famichiki Pizza Flavor and Famichiki Red cost 258 yen, and Roasted Sweet Potato (Yakiimo) costs 298 yen. FamilyMart does not list Roasted Sweet Potato for Okinawa.

The rest of the list, with 8% tax:

  • Above 198 yen: Spicy Fried Chicken at 220 yen and Korojaga French Fries (Salt) at 230 yen. The three Famichiki items and Roasted Sweet Potato join them.
  • At 198 yen: four Big Yakitori skewers (chicken thigh or skin, tare sauce or salt), Crispy Chicken (Plain) and Jumbo Frank Sausage.
  • Below 198 yen: Chicken Meatball Skewer at 189 yen, American Dog at 150 yen and Hash Browns at 145 yen. Famikoro Beef Croquette costs 120 yen, and the two Famikara pieces 108 yen.

The cheapest fried chicken on the list is Famikara. One piece of Famikara fried chicken in soy sauce flavor costs 100 yen before tax and 108 yen with tax. A salt version sells at the same price, and you buy Famikara by the piece.

FamilyMart notes that some stores do not carry every item on the list.

For the full menu beyond hot snacks, our FamilyMart Japan food guide lists prices, regions and allergens for rice balls, bread, desserts and more. If you are comparing chains, our guide to 7-Eleven Japan hot snacks covers Nana Chiki and the rest of that counter.

Eating it in the store, tax and paying

The 248 yen price assumes you take Famichiki away. Food you eat at a convenience store’s tables counts as dining out and is taxed at 10%. Food you take away is taxed at 8%. Our guide to Japanese convenience store food explains how the two rates work across the whole store.

How we checked the prices on this page

The prices, calories and allergens on this page come from FamilyMart’s Japanese product pages and lists. We read the hot snack and bread lists on 21 October 2026, and the Famichiki and Famichiki Buns pages on 24 October 2026. Every amount with tax uses the 8% take-away rate that those pages show.

On 20 October 2026 we photographed the hot snack case at a FamilyMart in Tokyo and read the labels. We matched 11 of the 18 items on the hot snack list to a label, and the 10 prices we could read were the same as the official list. The Famichiki Red label was partly covered, so we could not read its price in the store; the official list says 239 yen before tax and 258 yen with tax.

We did not taste or weigh anything for this page, and it does not rank the flavors. FamilyMart says prices, release dates and specifications can differ by region, and that some stores do not carry an item, so the case in your store may not match the list exactly. This page covers FamilyMart stores in Japan only, not FamilyMart stores in other countries.
