How Much Is a Bowl at Japan’s Big Ramen Chains? 24 Chains

How much is a bowl at Japan's big ramen chains? 11 of the 24 chains we checked print a bowl price on their own sites: the median is 869 yen, and 2 charge more than 1,000 yen. That is 249 yen more than the government's average for Tokyo's 23 wards (620 yen, August 2026). Ichiran and 10 other chains give no price online (checked 17 and 18 October 2026).

869yen, the median standard bowl at the 11 chains that print a priceRamen Kairikiya is in the middle
2 of 11chains charge more than 1,000 yen for their standard bowlRamen Kagetsu Arashi and Moko Tanmen Nakamoto; 2 more are exactly 1,000
+249yen over the government's average bowl in Tokyo's 23 wards (620 yen, August 2026)+122 over the median of 81 cities (747 yen)

The median uses only the 11 chains whose sites print the price in text. 3 of them do not say if tax is included, so we use the number as printed. 2 chains show the price only in a picture of the menu, and 11 give no price. 8 chains say prices can differ by shop. The government average is the retail price survey's price for a bowl of ramen at ordinary shops, not at chains (our comparison).

Chains change prices often, and many say the price differs by shop. Check the menu or the ticket machine at the shop. We do not use prices from review sites or other websites.

Compared with the government's average bowl

Chains compared with the government's average bowl (August 2026, yen)
  1. Median of 11 chains869
  2. Median of 81 cities (retail price survey)747
  3. Tokyo's 23 wards (retail price survey)620

The cheapest standard bowls are at Hidakaya (420 yen) and Sugakiya (430 yen); the dearest are Kagetsu Arashi and Moko Tanmen Nakamoto, just over 1,000 yen. The government's retail price survey put an ordinary bowl in Tokyo's 23 wards at 620 yen in August 2026, so most chain bowls cost more than that average.

4 of 24 chains: Ichiran (pork-free), Ippudo, AFURI and Kyushu Jangara (vegan or plant-based). None shows a halal-certified bowl.

Why Ichiran has no price here

Ichiran's official menu, pork-free, shop and news pages give no yen prices. Its 29 June 2026 notice says prices changed at some shops from 1 July 2026 and points to the ticket machine in each shop. We do not copy prices from other websites.
