Fire-walking ritual, Daishoin Temple大聖院 火渡り式Every year on 15 April (spring grand festival) and 15 November (autumn grand festival), from 11:00Daishoin Temple, Miyajima. A Shingon esoteric ritual in which a fire lit from a flame said to have burned for over 1,200 years is spread over cypress leaves, and priests, mountain ascetics, believers and visitors walk over the embers barefoot. The day runs from a sutra recitation at 11:00 to the fire walk at 14:00 and ends around 15:00. Free. Anyone who wishes may take part in the fire walk. Official page
