A major service for safe childbirth, conception and family wellbeing. On 23 July at 19:00 a procession in Heian-period white robes carries a red and white maternity belt about 30 m long to the principal image, with gagaku music. The Rishu Zanmai service follows at 19:30 and is held again on 24 July at 19:30. Roads around the temple are closed from about 15:00 on both days. A temporary car park is open on the evening of 23 July only (17:00 to 21:00), and public transport is advised.
